Review - Marilyn by Lush

Hello my Darlings!

As promised, here I am with a lovely hair mask review!

Anyone who is a blonde will know how hard it is to maintain:- the constant hair dying, the unwanted brassy tones & the drying state your hair becomes. Some hair treatment can cause blonde hair to become more brittle & dry, which is no fun!

However! help is at hand!

I was lucky enough to be sent a sample of the Marilyn hair treatment, and I am totally in love!

In it's iconic lush packaging, I couldn't wait to try the product & ran straight upstairs.

The thick, yellow mask smells absolutely gorgeous! you can definatly smell the infusion of chamomile in the treatment, and with the addition of olive oil, lemon oil and linseed you know that it it will do good for your hair. Aswell as the moisturising properties, the mask contains lemon juice to help gradually lighten the hair, as lemon and chamomile have naturally occurring peroxide. The mask is said to 'maintains the blonde you have, whilst chamomile and lemon combine to give a hint of a glint of brightness' which I will be putting to the test. What I like about Lush is the lack of chemicals in the products, knowing that they are actually doing good to your hair. And, of course, for the their lack of animal testing (having cats as pets since you were 6, they become like your best friends!)

So, the mask is a pre-wash treatment - meaning that you use it before you wash your hair. I slathered the product on, put a shower cap 0n & enjoyed a lovely, warm bath (aaa, relaxing baths - how I love thee) I left the product on for about 30 minutes and rinsed it off with cool water - and then proceeded to shampoo, condition and dry my hair. I was impressed with the results! My hair feels soft and actually shines!:

See! I wasn't kidding! AND it took out the brassy, yellow tones (I had bleached my hair about 2 days before the treatment)

I actually adore this product, and I WILL be purchasing some more! I seriously recommend you visit your local lush store or visit them online: https://www.lush.co.uk/product/283/Marilyn-Hair-Moisturiser

Have any of you tried this product before? what was your experience?

Hair Review: Macadamia Oil 'Get Hooked'

Hello my Beauties!

Welcome to my new blog! I hope for great things to come from this blog so here's a start!

I was lucky enough to be sent the 'Get Hooked' gift set by Macadamia natural oil - a brand that uses macadamia oil infused with other natural ingredients to create superior hair care products. And with the brand receiving a number of rewards, it must be good! The gift set contained 2 products:- a 30ml sample of the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment & 30ml Deep Repair Masque. The oil is suitable for all hair types & boasts about being nourishing, de-tangling hair & generally making your hair easier to manage.

When I was using these product, there was one thing that struck me straight away - the gorgeous yet alluring smell! you can really smell the macadamia oil & it is divinely sweet! I decided that I would use the mask first as it made sense to do so. It recommended that you left on the masque on for 7 minutes & to put it on wet hair. However, I decided to leave the mask on for about an hiur as I wanted to get the full benefit. The masque was a peachy/orange consistency and smelt divine. After I washed the masque, my hair felt and looked physically healthier - which I was pleasantly surprised about seeing as my hair had been over processed for so long.

The healing treatment sealed the deal & I was completely amazed by it! It really felt like my hair was healing! my hair was smooth, UV protected & became easily de tangled  & I sincerely recommend the product. In fact, I shall be ordering both of these as soon as my pay check comes through!

The products can be purchased from their website & see for yourself the amazing goodness!

My growing love for Lush

Hello my Darlings!

For some extraordinary reason my previous Lush review has been deleted so I am going to do an all-round review on a few products on Lush (Yay!)

I first starting using the products on boxing day when I brought my first ever gift set and products. Since then, they've become an everyday essential in my beauty regime.

Vanilla Dee-lite: My ALL TIME favorite lush product. This classic body butter has the most indulgent smell I have every smelt in a product (aside from perfume) as it is infused with vanilla pods. Not only does it make me smell great, It makes my skin feel so soft!

Snow Fairy shower gel: This shower gel really does take me back to my childhood. The sweet, incising smell just makes me feel like a child in a sweetie shop! and with the lquid being pink, How can I resist?

Retread conditioner: This conditioner makes my hair feel extra soft & seems to help my split ends. This is due to it being infused with Olive, Jojoba and Avocado oils to give a deep condition. This also reminds me that I need to buy some more!

Father Christmas Ball Ballistic: Anyone who has tried this bath bomb know that it really  is a festive treat! From the way it fades from pale red to a Christmas tree green mixed with red glitter to the exotic aroma of Mandarin Oil & Orange Flower.

Marilyn Pre-wash treatment: Although I have already done a review on this (which can be found here) I really doe recommend this for any brassy blonde as, not only does it help tone the brassiness, it helps treat brittle blonde hair.

So, which Lush Product shall I try next?

DIY Hair mask

Hello my Darlings!

My time as a trainee/student journalist has really took it's toll on me:- having to write 4 court reports & a patch story in one week is not good! and I feel quite run down! including my blonde locks!

I was searching on the internet for some good, home-made hair masks when I came across one on AndreasChoice. The mask uses 2 key ingredients:

  • Coconut oil

  • Honey

The effects:

The reason behind using coconut oil is because it is one of the oils that particles are small enough to be absorbed by the hair, and with it's moisturising properties it's perfect for any hair type! The oil can be purchased at any hair retailer, or in local markets.

Honey is also great for your hair:- it helps prevent hair loss and baldness, it makes your hair shiny and the hair follicles more healthier.

What to do:

Firstly, heat up your coconut oil:- coconut oil is a solid at room temperature so, in a microwave or putting the bottle in boiling water, warm the oil up unit it goes into it's liquid state.

In a bowl, mix 50% honey 50% oil together (as much as your hair needs really! I didn't measure) mix until it's a thick consistency.

The mask can be used on both wet and dry hair, although I personally would recommend wet as the mask can lock in more moisture that way.

Slather the mask on your hair, making sure it is completely covering your head, stick either a shower cap or plastic bag on your head and relax! I left mine on for an hour :) The consistence is rather sticky so stick a towel round your shoulders.

After this time, wash your hair out with cool water & a gentle shampoo - this will make sure all of the product comes out your hair & doesn't leave it looking greasy.

The results were fantastic! and my hair definatly felt healthier :D

Tip: Another mask idea, leave in your favourite conditioner in for a few hours and see the results!

If you try this out, show me your results!
