A bath ballistic with a difference!

Me and the company Lush have a lot in common - we hate unnatural chemicals, we love smelling good and we love animals & their welfare.

After browsing the site a few weeks back for the perfect Lush treat, I stubble across a new bath ballistic called 'mermaid'. Instantly I was intrigued and the title reminded me of, naturally, the Little Mermaid.

However, this bath bomb is like no other. Yes, it is still filled with amazing ingredients such as seaweed and lavender oil and the bath bomb itself looks incredible in a very majestic mermaid shape but - in typical Lush style - it goes one step further.

The Mermaid bath bomb was created to help support The Coldwater Project - which is a project created by the Sea Shepard Conservation Society. The SSCS help protect ocean wildlife in their natural habitat - which, in my eyes, is a huge deal. So, if you purchase the mermaid bath bomb - all the proceeds (excluding VAT) goes towards this cause. Go Lush!

So, after all the stress caused by University - I thought it was about time that the Mermaid finally went where she belongs - the bathtub.

                         Bathtime!

As soon as the bath bomb fell in the water, a very familiar aroma filled up the room. The scent of this bath bomb is that of the 'Big blue' bomb - and like this bomb, all contains natural seaweed which does wonders for your skin!

After sitting in this bath for 10 minutes, I felt so much more relaxed - almost like sunbathing by the ocean, taking in the salty sea scent.

If you love the 'Big blue' bath bomb or just love donating to a good cause and feeling divine about it then I recommend this bath bomb! At a small cost of £2.50, it is totally worth it!

Being able to donate to charity and smell great when doing so? How can you go wrong?!

Every once in a while, I like to change the products that I use. However, I do have some all time favourites that I think you should all try:

Favourite Shampoo: Johnson's Baby Shampoo

After watching many videos on YouTube, Johnson's baby shampoo is always recommended if you are trying to grow your hair, and I don't know what it is but I think it actually works! The shampoo doesn't have many (if any) harmful chemicals in - which I think is great as I really want to save my hair. No tears? No chemicals!

Close second: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Thickening Shampoo

Favourite Conditioner: Herbal Essence 'Bee Strong' Conditioner

For a while, I tried to stay away from Herbal Essences after reading some poor reviews about them. However, after sneakingly trying some of my Mum's - I've been converted! Along with the baby shampoo, my hair feels soft, shines and looks healthy! Something I've been craving for in a conditioner and never seemed to achieve fully - even with expensive conditioners. Plus, with Nicole Scherzinger promoting the product? How could I resist?!

Close Second: Pantene Repair & Protect Conditioner for Normal to Thick hair

Favourite Moisturiser: Vanilla Dee-Lite Body Lotion

 

I cannot get enough of this product! Seriously my all-time favourite Lush product. Not only is it moisturising, it smells like my ideal summer holiday (If that makes sense?). I am currently running out of this product (Boo Hoo) and will be swiftly making my way to the nearest Lush store to pick a bottle up.

Close Second: Garnier 7 Day Moisturiser for Dry Skin

Favourite Facial Moisturiser: Soap & Glory Feel Good Factor Facial Moisturiser

Before finding this gem, I was searching far and wide for a decent moisturiser especially for the face. This product ticks all my boxes: Good SPF, all day moister and light formula. I just love it! And you can never go wrong with Soap and Glory.

I shall be doing a similar post for make up very soon!

Lush Review - 'Sweetie Pie' Shower Jellie

Have you ever looked at a product and thought to yourself? 'There's such a product?' 'How do you exsisit!'

Well, that's exactly the thought I had when I saw the 'Sweetie Pie' shower jelly from Lush. Yes, you read it right - Shower Jelly!

Originally created for it's 10th birthday - shower jelly is for the people who are looking for a different way to wash their 'wobbly bits'.

The carrageen seaweed is the key ingredient to make the jelly well, a jelly! With the added coconut and cherries; it smells like childhood sweeties (my mum said that it smells of dibdabs). The added glitter to the jelly was a bonus and really adds a feminine (or childish, ahem) touch to the jelly! yay!

I couldn't wait to use this product when I got home! and, I must confess, kept playing with it like an amused child!

What's good about this product is that it can be used chilled or frozen (to cool down sunburn) or as it is if you want it a little bit more bearing!

I actually loved using this product! although it is tricky to use - I think it added to the fun! And after the bath I smelt absolutely divine!

The Jelly!

I totally recommend this product if you want a different and amusing way to bathe and, like me, love a good sweet smell!

However, have no fear if you do not like sweet things as Lush have a more refreshing shower jelly called 'Whoosh'

Review - Marilyn by Lush

As promised, here I am with a lovely hair mask review!

Anyone who is a blonde will know how hard it is to maintain:- the constant hair dying, the unwanted brassy tones & the drying state your hair becomes. Some hair treatment can cause blonde hair to become more brittle & dry, which is no fun!

However! help is at hand!

I was lucky enough to be sent a sample of the Marilyn hair treatment, and I am totally in love!

In it's iconic lush packaging, I couldn't wait to try the product & ran straight upstairs.

The thick, yellow mask smells absolutely gorgeous! you can definatly smell the infusion of chamomile in the treatment, and with the addition of olive oil, lemon oil and linseed you know that it it will do good for your hair. Aswell as the moisturising properties, the mask contains lemon juice to help gradually lighten the hair, as lemon and chamomile have naturally occurring peroxide. The mask is said to 'maintains the blonde you have, whilst chamomile and lemon combine to give a hint of a glint of brightness' which I will be putting to the test. What I like about Lush is the lack of chemicals in the products, knowing that they are actually doing good to your hair. And, of course, for the their lack of animal testing (having cats as pets since you were 6, they become like your best friends!)

So, the mask is a pre-wash treatment - meaning that you use it before you wash your hair. I slathered the product on, put a shower cap 0n & enjoyed a lovely, warm bath (aaa, relaxing baths - how I love thee) I left the product on for about 30 minutes and rinsed it off with cool water - and then proceeded to shampoo, condition and dry my hair. I was impressed with the results! My hair feels soft and actually shines!:



See! I wasn't kidding! AND it took out the brassy, yellow tones (I had bleached my hair about 2 days before the treatment)

Hello my Lovelies!

I'm not sure whether this is going to be more of a review or a personal experiece ...

A bit of both I think!

Anyway, if you follow my blog (which I hope you do!) you will know that I had a slight addiction to fake tanning - but I didn't like the fact that I am absolutely useless at appying the stuff and not making it streaky (It feels like I have the mssing gene :( ) So I have reverted to a new way of tanning which I know not all of you will agree with. Sunbeds.

YES! I know that they are bad for you! I only go on for a few minutes and that is it!

Me and my beautiful friend Steph decided we wanted abit more colour to our skin. After all, the British weather is never promising and a little glow couldn't hurt anyone, could it?

We decided to use the tanning salon Kwik Tan situated on Clumber Street in Nottingham. To me, It seems like a pay-as-you-go tanning salon, in which you are given a card that you can top up when you want to be a tanned diva. When you join there, you are given 6 free minutes and £20 worth of vouchers - including a 60 minutes of tanning for £10, free 6 minutes when you recommend a friend and 25% off a bottle of tanning lotion.

Now, with it being my first time - I was quite nervous, but the receptionist was kind and showed me and Steph everything we needed to know.

I can happily say that I have been back since then and developed a lovely tan!

Which, for me, is a miracle!

If you don't want to go on the sunbed, then that is entirely your choice; I just decided I wanted some colour and I will only be doing it once a week (if that).

Lush Review: The Dragon's Egg

Hello Beauties!

I hope you've had a fabulous week! I have officially broke up from uni for 2 weeks! So I will be putting up more content and I have lots of reviews to do for you!

Looking outside the window today, all I can see is cold & white - which makes me want to hibernate in my fluffy dressing gown.

However, I have been desperate to try this bath bomb - the aroma has been filling up my room which is really nice & made me want to try it even more!

The Dragon's egg is one of the most popular bath bombs that Lush do, the Dragon's Egg has a very citrus-infused smell which is really powerful - which I don't mind at all.

As you can see from the photo, the bath bomb is mostly white with hints of colour - which is said to be the bath bombs 'surprises'. The bath bomb took about 3-5 minutes to properly dissolve and here is a picture of the bath bomb fizzling away and what the bath looked like.

How pretty does this look?

This is the bath bomb nearly half way fizzled - you can see confetti bits, so many pretty colours. 

 The end product

Although you cannot see it in the photo, the bath had loads of silver and gold glitter - like the shiny treasure that a dragon may keep. The bath smelt so good and I believe that it was the lemon oil which contributed to this. The bath bomb did make my skin really soft HOWEVER I would not recommend this if you have a skin condition such as eczema because it really irritated my arms :(

PayDay Haul - Lush & Rimmel

Hello my Darlings!

Today, after 2 hours subbing my next assignment & a lovely meal at Pizza Hut with the beautiful Stephanie Mulholland (thoughtsofawannabejournalist.com) I decided to spend some of my well earned wages.

My first pit stop was Lush, because I wanted to see if I could get a sample of the hair moisturiser H'suan Wen Hua. H'suan Wen Hua, to me seems to me, to be the ultimate hair mask. It contains eggs: which are good for restructuring your hair and putting protein back in your hair,  Balsamic Vinegar: which is great for adding shine to your hair and organic bananas: which have been used due to their moisturising qualities. i cannot wait to try this mask & I shall be doing a review on it as soon as I try it out.

I also brought two products: The Pink 'Fun' and a Dragon's Egg Ball Ballistic. The pink 'fun' is basically like play dough - but you can use this play dough to wash your hair, shower, wash your hands & to play with. how diverse is that! It also smells amazing - sweet like candies. 

The Dragon's Egg is one of the larger ball ballistics that Lush do - and it wasn't badly priced at £3.20. It smells absolutely gorgeous with hints of citrus and Lemon Oil. After reading many reviews, I have heard that it has lots of confetti and other surprises, which I cannot wait to try!

After this, I then ventured to Superdrug for a nosey at the make up deals. I noticed that Rimmel have a 3 for 2 on all cosmetics. Yes, I am a sucker for deals. 

I decided to treat myself to 3 nail polishes. The first nail polish I got was from the Metal Rush collection and the shade I got was 60 Royal Blue - which is a lovely Harlequin polish, which changes colour. My second polish is from the 60 Second Collection and is a lovely pale coral colour called 415 Instyle Coral and I think that the colour is perfect for a down-to-earth look & for summer. The last polish I brought was from the Cocktail Colour in a Flash collection and is called 140 Hawaiian Punch. This is a really lovely glittery red colour, which reminds me of the 80's/90's for some reason - meaning its bang on trend.

My growing love for Lush

Hello my Darlings!

For some extraordinary reason my previous Lush review has been deleted so I am going to do an all-round review on a few products on Lush (Yay!)

I first starting using the products on boxing day when I brought my first ever gift set and products. Since then, they've become an everyday essential in my beauty regime.

Vanilla Dee-lite: My ALL TIME favorite lush product. This classic body butter has the most indulgent smell I have every smelt in a product (aside from perfume) as it is infused with vanilla pods. Not only does it make me smell great, It makes my skin feel so soft!

Snow Fairy shower gel: This shower gel really does take me back to my childhood. The sweet, incising smell just makes me feel like a child in a sweetie shop! and with the lquid being pink, How can I resist?

Retread conditioner: This conditioner makes my hair feel extra soft & seems to help my split ends. This is due to it being infused with Olive, Jojoba and Avocado oils to give a deep condition. This also reminds me that I need to buy some more!

Father Christmas Ball Ballistic: Anyone who has tried this bath bomb know that it really  is a festive treat! From the way it fades from pale red to a Christmas tree green mixed with red glitter to the exotic aroma of Mandarin Oil & Orange Flower.

Marilyn Pre-wash treatment: Although I have already done a review on this (which can be found here) I really doe recommend this for any brassy blonde as, not only does it help tone the brassiness, it helps treat brittle blonde hair.

Hello my lovlies!

Just wanted to quickly update you about what I shall be righting about this week! But firstly I again want to apologise for the lack of posts, I've been really busy with work and university work :/ so many court reports to write about! But I hope you are all well and will forgive me! :)

I am currently in the progress of trying 2 hair masks: Marilyn by Lush and a DIY one I learnt from YouTube :) I also have some more lush products to review but I would like your input on what YOU think I should review! Let me know! :)
